Do I really need to check my extinguisher every 6 months?
Yes. According to Australian Standard AS1851, fire extinguishers must be checked at least every 6 months to ensure they are in working order and safe to use. Many extinguishers lose pressure or expire without showing any obvious signs.
Can I just buy a new extinguisher and forget about it?
Buying an extinguisher is a great start, but it’s not the whole picture. Without regular servicing, it might not work when you need it most. We’ve seen plenty of brand new extinguishers fail due to neglect or poor storage.
How do I know if my extinguisher needs to be replaced?
If it’s damaged, discharged, past it’s expiry date or fails our pressure check, we’ll recommend a replacement. If you’re a member, you’ll receive a replacement on the spot.
Can landlords or Airbnb hosts use this service?
Absolutely. In fact regular extinguisher checks are highly recommended for rentals and short-term stays to meet safety standards and protect your guests.
What’s included in the 6 month service check?
Each visit includes a full extinguisher inspection (in line with AS1851), pressure gauge reading, visual inspection, tag update and service record. If needed, we’ll also advise on replacements or upgrades.
Can you check extinguishers I already own?
Yes! If your extinguisher is still within its expiry window and in good condition, we can check and tag it. If it needs replacing, we’ll offer options on the spot.
What type of fire extinguisher do I need for my home?
An ABE Dry Chemical extinguisher is the most versatile and recommended for general home use. It can cover electrical fires, flammable liquids and everyday combustibles like wood and paper.
Will this help with my home insurance?
Many insurers appreciate homes with active fire protection and maintenance. We provide compliant tags and service records that you can show your insurer to request a discount or improved coverage.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Our subscriptions are based on a 12 month service cycle, which includes two fire extinguisher check-ups to keep your home compliant. After the 12 months, you’re free to cancel at any time, no questions asked. We’ll remind you before your renewal so you’re always in control.
Do you provide emergency callouts?
While we focus on scheduled maintenance, we do our best to help quickly if there’s an urgent need for a replacement or safety concern. Contact us directly and we’ll do what we can.
